Caregiver’s Day Away

Planning a day away to recognize and affirm the important role of caregivers in the community. An opportunity to come together and participate in several activities around healthy eating, active living, and healthy coping strategies.

Blomidon After School Ski Program

Corner Brook

An after school and weekend ski program designed to help elementary and primary school children in the Corner Brook area become more active.

Pathfinder Learning Centre Exercise Program


This group is using funds to facilitate exercise sessions at least twice per week with students and staff of the Pathfinder Learning Centre.

Wellness for Life


An existing Wellness Group in the community has identified a need for various resources to continue their health promotion efforts in the community.

Mental Health for Life

Port aux Basques

The Peaceful Communities group is planning a health promotion “Lunch-and-Learn”. This is an opportunity for community members in Port aux Basques to attend and learn all about mental health.

Women Working toward Wellness

Pollard's Point

An active living group in Pollard’s Point working to get more active and learn more about how they can move health promotion forward in their community.

Seniors in Action

Cow Head

The Friendly Club is planning regular active living sessions for seniors in the community as well as information sessions of many health issues such as injury prevention and healthy eating.

Youth Workshop

Stephenville Crossing

Designed for youth in the Stephenville Crossing area, this project will provide participants an opportunity to gather in fellowship and learning about healthy living issues important to them.


Southwest Coast

 Literacy based activity program with major focus on healthy living for children ages 5-12 years.

Sunrise Theta RHO Girls Club 

Port aux Basques 

A smoke free girls camp that promotes healthy eating, active living, and a smoke-free environment. 

Twilight 50+ Variety Show 

Port au Port East 

Variety show for seniors in the area, offering information around health and wellness issues for seniors. 

Belanger Health Fairs 


Several health fairs for youth and community members providing information on health and wellness.   

Respect Day 

Port aux Basques 

One day dedicated to promoting respect in the school community and at home.  

Buddy Program

Children are given the opportunity to socialize and participate in recreation activities with older students.  

Safe Kids Week

Hosting free swims in 5 communities in the region to promote safe kids. 

Voices and Choices

Three sessions for youth interested in information on time management, yoga, and physical activity.  

Humber Valley Regional Caregiver Network

Caregivers retreat at which caregivers have an opportunity to socialize and be involved in many health promotion activities.  

Gros Morne Soccer Club

Purchase of nets, soccer balls, and other items required to start up a minor soccer club in the community. 

Dare to Dance

Youth ages 9-12 participating in dance lessons and learning about healthy eating and active living.  

Engaging Communities Project (Cultural Camps)

Training session in retreat format for youth in the area. Spin off of the Peer Helper Program piloted at Piccadilly High.

Seniors Group established a regular active living group based on the Moving for Health Program.

Training health promotion volunteers to deliver presentations in the community related to healthy living.  

SWGC Health Fair

The toolkit training offers hands-on strategies to help individuals develop personal wellness action plans.
