Hear We Go Workshop  Corner Brook & Area 

A workshop to enhance awareness, offer expert advise on hearing loss prevention, and build a support group for people with hearing loss.  

Seniors Health & Wellness Forum  Corner Brook & Area  

A Wellness Workshop covering a variety of topics/issues affecting seniors.  

Kids Live Well Marathon  Deer Lake & White Bay Area 

A 42-day marathon promoting physical activity and nutrition among children and families.  

Community Wellness Lunch & Learn/Community Wellness Day  Port aux Basques & Area 

Presentations, displays, and activities on a variety of wellness topic areas.  

ACTARS Port Saunders  

For First Aide Instruction.  

Cooking Healthy, Cooking Local Foods  Port Saunders & Area  

Helping residents learn healthy ways to prepare traditional foods. Presentation on eating well with Canada's Food Guide and other healthy eating practices included.  

Community Park & Playground  Glenburnie, Birchy Head, and Shoal Brook 

Support to enhance and/or develop a community park and playground to provide ongoing opportunities for physical activity and recreation.  

Corner Brook Community Garden Project  Corner Brook 

Support for development of community garden. 

Bookworms Program 

Stephenville & Southwest Coast 

Support for a summer literacy program in 6 communities. Partnering with the Ticker Tom Summer Program.  

Quality Living Group  Reidville 

Support for local volunteers in delivering Life Skills and Grief Recovery Programs in the community.  

Energy Drinks Awareness Campaign  Western School District 

Poster printing and distribution to create awareness of the dangers of energy drinks and to support the ban on energy drinks in schools.  

Lunch & Learn for Business Owners 

Port aux Basques 

Lunch and learn with local business owners to identify linkages and opportunities for wellness promotion throughout the business community.  

ALS Client Services & Support Luncheon 

Corner Brook & West Coast 

Support group luncheon for ALS caregivers and family members; visiting and assessing the needs of families.  

Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Project  Cow Head

Project aimed at promoting physical activity among seniors in the community; intergenerational games and activities included.  

Seniors Sharing Quilting Skills  Port au Port 

Older seniors (70+) teach quilting skills to younger seniors (50+).  

Women's Wellness Day  Benoit's Cove 

Presentations on various wellness topics areas and luncheon for women.  

Humber Valley & Bay of Islands Canadian Council for the Blind 

Corner Brook 

Support to enhance social/recreational opportunities for visually impaired individuals (e.g., games, brail cards, etc.).  

Be a Man...Self Exam  Stephenville 

Awareness campaign related to testicular cancer and promotion of self exam.  

Community Information Fair 

Stephenville 

Information fair with booths and exhibits from a wide range of community and health service providers.  

Building Bridges Intergenerational Program  Corner Brook 

Support to bring grade 5 students and seniors together to achieve curriculum outcomes and to involve seniors in the community.
